Theme Change Log

Versions 1.9.3 (January 4, 2016); available on GitHub

Versions 1.9.2 (December 21, 2015)

  • Adding newly required .gallery-caption css
  • In functions.php, changing one slug from _s to a11yall

Versions 1.9.1 (November 13, 2015)

  • Adding scss folder and files (including adding cache to gitignore) that can generate style.css.
  • Sass spotted CSS error in section #6 (abl.scss) on what is now line 325:
    .section.header #skiptomain { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0;}
In 1.9.0 and earlier it was missing a colon after top and left.
  • Adding a “NoSidebar” custom field option, so authors can have posts without a sidebar; requires “NoSidebar” be set to “true.”

Versions 1.9.0 (June 10, 2015); available on WordPress.org

  • Deleting space in “Theme Name” of “All Y’all”. This was done to cope with a problem that the wordpress.org theme uploader has in creating directory names. (See ticket 22294.) It named this one’s directory “all-yall” — although it does not do this for native themes such as “Twenty Fifteen” which has a slug of “twentyfifteen” and directory of “twentyfifteen”. With this change the uploader should change the directory to “a11yall” so that it matches the slug. This will create a new (third) ticket for this theme.

Versions 1.8.21 and 1.8.22 (May 1, 2015)

  • No changes from version 1.8.19. @Otto42 at WordPress.org had to update version number as he was debugging an issue with the WordPress.org theme uploader. For details, see ticket 22294.

Versions 1.8.20 (April 15, 2015)

  • No changes; version number upgraded because of a wordpress.org snafu. For details, see notes between April 3 and April 15 on ticket 22294 – another cautionary tale for anyone with hopes of getting her accessible theme released in anything resembling a reasonable timeframe.

Versions 1.8.18 and 1.8.19 (April 2, 2015)

  • Per WP ticket 22294….
  • Changed from hardcoded charset to UTF-8
  • Made “Skip to content” translatable
  • Made wp_link_pages translatable
  • Consolidated all search forms to use get_search_form() (and tweaked header CSS for mobile while in this code)
  • Added a copyright statement for the theme itself

Version 1.8.17 (Jan. 17, 2015)

  • Per 22294, made title tag function workable for versions of WordPress less than 4.1

Version 1.8.16 (Jan. 15, 2015)

  • Per 22294, moved title tag for older WP versions to functions.php

Version 1.8.15 (Jan. 13, 2015)

  • Slightly expanded mobile portrait width to accommodate new bigger phones
  • Per 22294, replaced title tag in header.php with shiv. Note: As a result, Yoast SEO plugin detector no longer works fully, so have commented out portion in functions.php temporarily

  • Changing the spelling of “Theme Name” to make it more consistent with the “Text Domain” spelling.

Version 1.8.9 (Dec. 15, 2014)

  • Switching out modernizr builds. Per WP ticket 20513, no minification of scripts unless unminified version is provided; must provide unminified version of modernizr. To do this had to switch to full modernizr (instead of custom build) and upgrade to latest version (2.8.3).

  • Per review #20513 updated license info for bundled resources
  • Per review #20513 improved enqueing of scripts. Instead of using the CSS Tricks method, jquery is now loaded as a dependent script of modernizr, ensuring that jquery loads before modernizr.

Version 1.7.9 (Nov. 13, 2014)

  • Note: child themes are more apt to break with this upgrade. If they do, check header.php, footer.php, and functions.php
